Subsidence after Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion using Zero-P Cage: Reports of 2 Cases

|
Cervical cage subsidence is one of the major complications after the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion surgery. According to literatures, subsidence rates after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion using stand-alone cage were relatively high, but most of cage subsidence were asymptomatic. However there have not been enough studies that support the safeness and superiorities related with the cage subsidence. We present two patients who had been performed the single level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with The ‘Zero-P’ cage and occurred the fused level subsidence recently. One underwent the revision operation due to new symptom related with cervical disc height decrease and the other was under the close follow-up. The new ‘Zero-P’ cage seems quite innovative in both of morphological and biomechanical aspects of view but the subsidence of fused level can results in so much the worsen. More careful consideration about this cage to spine surgeons should be needed.
